Sometimes commissions come along which are not my usual pet portraits and I guess that is a great opportunity to stretch myself a little. Back in October I was asked if I could paint a view of one of the cemetery's in France near where the battle of the Somme occurred. Initially the brief was to show a ghost soldier from the battle watching a family at his grave, but not to make it too spooky, but more wistful and beautiful, it all seemed a bit vague and it took quite sometime and a lot of research to come up with an image which I liked. What I've come up with leaves it open to interpretation as to whether the soldier is having a premonition of how things will turn out on that fateful day or whether he is indeed a ghost. I call it The Vision hope you like the effect. I actually found it quite emotional to work on, as like many my grandfather fought in ww1. In the pic he is centred in the middle.
An exact view of th Sierre 2 area cemetery a sad beautiful place.
Next I've been working on a collection of 4 Mediterranean street scenes for another customer which look lovely. Took ages tho' because of there miniature size.

Next I'm back to pets - a lovely old mongrel and a beautiful German pointer. With a few child portraits thrown in! You see it really is pick and mix season for me at the moment I never know what's going to turn up! See you next time.
